# I had a meeting with my supervisor about the gifting process for the residents of new projects.

# I wrote a refuse letter in Arabic for one company which request sponsorship from Deyaar.

# My supervisor asked me to go around the departments to count the number of the triangle stand.
# Organized the quotations of different agencies and putted them in files.
# Called some of the advertising agencies to provide us with some evidence of there pervious work.

# I attended a meeting with one of the sport clubs in the country, the meeting was about requesting a sponsorship from Deyaar. After the meeting I wrote a proposal regarding the request and I handed to my supervisor, as she didn’t attend the meeting because she had a meeting with her manager.

# The person who is responsible for the website called me so I have to review the website and after he did the required changes. While I was reviewing the website I found many errors such broken links.

What I did:

#Did balance sheet for property management.
#Called Swaty regarding to the update expenses of property management so I could add it in the balance sheet.
#Attended a meeting with JRA group.
#Send an email for Swaty regarding to what I discussed to her through the phone.
#Organize the file for the Property management expenses from January to April and I sorted the file according three sections creative, Boards Signage and Mediaedge.

What I learned:

#I learned how to create a balance sheet for the property management.

What I did:

#Responded to the proposals that offered by different organizations via fax.
#Fillings this proposal according to refuse offers and accepted offers.
#Called Al Wasl Hospital, to ask them about the procedure to organize a day for blood donation #for the staffs.
#Translated an Arabic proposal to English.

Tuesday

What I did:

#Reviewed the Arabic website : I noticed that some of the links were broken, also there were some pages that didn’t translated to Arabic.
#Someone called me from the donation sector in Al wasl hospital, and she informed me about the whole process that I have to do.
#The HR department asked our department to create an announcement regarding to the proper dress that that employees have wear and which should avoid wearing it. So I required to find pictures from Google and send it them to marketing analyzers in order to design the announcement through Photoshop. (it was exiting work and out of routine)
#Wrote a refuse letter for one of the organization that they want sponsorship from Deyaar.

#Review the changes in the Arabic website. (we found a lot of errors)

Week 2

Generally I liked what I did; I found it interesting to apply the skills that I gained from my studies in the workplace, and the tasks were nearly similar to what we do in the college. For these tasks I applied the communication, designing and writing skills which it helped me to accomplish the jobs that I required to do successfully and I developed new skills.

Sunday

I have done numerous of tasks:

  • To call a gay his name ‘Tony’ to ask him about the cost of triangle stand of the company’s logo, also to ask him to check of the acrylic size : if it fits for the new branch location or not.
  • Create letter templates for replying regards to sponsorship request. Also, I translated the Arabic letter to English.
  • Also I required translating the English pages of the company’s website to Arabic as they are creating an Arabic page beside the English.

For these tasks I applied the communication and writing skills.

What I learned:

  • I learned new vocabulary regarding to marketing packages such as acrylic and triangle stand.
  • I learned how to write an official letters to reply for the sponsorship request.

Monday

Tasks I did:
  • I completed to work on the website translation.
  • I have assigned to design a layout for the board announcement by using Photoshop. To design the layout I used the company’s guidelines in turn to follow the company’s theme and colors.

For these tasks I implement the designing and writing skills.

What I learned:

  • I learned to use new tools in Photoshop.
  • I learned that any companies have guidelines to follow for marketing packages.

Tuesday

Tasks I did:

  • I have assigned to create a balance sheet for the company’s marketing camping such as billboard, newspaper ads, and banners.
  • Continued to design layout, which I managed to create 4 designs.
  • Worked on the website translation.

For these tasks I implement Microsoft Excel, designing and writing skills.

What I learned:

  • For designing any layouts I have to design it in large pixels such as 3000*5000

Wednesday

Tasks I did:

  • Finished from design the announcement layout and showed to the marketing analyzer to see if the colors and the design reflect on the company logo and brand.
  • Reviewed the company website the Arabic link to find any error or broken links.
  • Read a proposal from Dubai Summer Surprises, that they request a sponsor from the company. After I finished from reading it I write a proposal for the marketing manager.

For these tasks I implement the designing, reading website designing and writing skills.

What I learned:

  • I learned to write a sponsorship proposal.

Thursday

Tasks I did:

  • Showed the proposal to my supervisor, she asked me to review the proposal again and if their any confusion regarding to any things, I have to called the sponsorship manager of Dubai Summer Surprises and asked him to clarify them.
  • Instead of calling him I sent an email that contained the entire questions that I need to know their answers.
  • I read a proposal of Mapping of the Local and Regional Donors in the Higher Education sector, and then I wrote a proposal about it.
  • My supervisor has sent an email that included presentations about the marketing concepts and marketing large media.
  • Called Tony to ask hm about the door notice prints proce, and then I sent him an email that included the prices of each size.

For these tasks I applied the communication and writing skills.

What I learned:

  • From the presentations I became familiar about the largest marketing media in the world and what business that they offer for their clients.

Weekly Log 1


Sunday

Department: IT (Software Application)
Company Supervisor: Prasanth Gopal



In my first day I had an orientation with my company’s mentor, who talked to about the company and what are the services that they provide. Also, they talked to me about new strategies that the organization use in the market, and then he talked about the IT department and explained briefly the tasks that they doing there. When my supervisor explained for me the tasks that they do in their department, I felt worry and confused because my background in IT is very general. Also, their work depends on technical and database which I didn’t have expertise on them. However, I talked to MR Gopal about this and he was so helpful with me. He started to clarify the tasks for me step by step.




· I learnt their about the new software that they are developing which called Sales Booking System (SBS).




· I learnt a small part of the software that called Master Info Applications.




At the end of the day I felt my very lost because every task that was relating to this department was required an IT major. As a result of that, I talked to my supervisor about this problem and explained for him major. He said for me to talk to the HR department. So I called the HR Manager and I explained to him my issue. His answered was to attend the IT department the next day and if I still faced the same problem I had to call him in order to transform me to other department.

Today my supervisor explained to me new software that I didn’t learn it in the college which called Microsoft SQL Server. He trained me the software in basic but when he started to explained it in more details I felt that I am confused and lost.




So I talked to the HR manager, he said that I don’t have to work there because he started to do the procedure to transform me to the marketing department.


Tuesday


The HR manger called me and said I don’t have to go to work and stay at home until they finished my transformation procedure. So I called my college mentor and explained the situation to him, he replied that as soon as I got my new department location and my new supervisor contact information and have to send them for him. At 14:00 I received an SMS for the HR manager that I have an interview with the marketing department on Wednesday at 10:30 in the head office.


Wednesday


I attend the interview with Mona Al Tamimi who will be my supervisor; she explained for me about the marketing department and introduced me to the staffs who work there. What is more, she informed me that I will work with them on Sunday because on Thursday she have meeting with CEO of the organization.

Meeting minutes:

$I wrote the meeting decision and planning for the period 4.

E auction:

$After the calculation we found out that we need to obtain 50 kg of Robusta and 150kg of Arabica beans. My job was to monitor the e-Auction in order to find beans with good price. Luckily we managed to buy beans with good price.

$As we had to buy the high quality blend to sell it to our customer, we tried to find a blend with good price.

For this period we set up our inventory requirements depended on Jaweed’s email. We found that we need to obtain 400 kg of high quality and 400 kg of Arabica beans. For the Robusta we decided not purchase it because it was inventory from period 2.

Trading Period 2

When we attended today to the college we put in our mind that our financial sheet was correct and we will start the second period by completing do profit. We got shocked that most of the finance work was wrong. Moreover, we found that in period one we sold our blend with losses. I and my group got sad and unhappy about it.

Our classmate Marwa helped us to understand the finance work therefore we do better than the last period. She taught us the strategies of finding the suitable price for our blend price there to cover our expenses.

For this period we set up our inventory requirements depended on Jaweed’s email. We found that we need to obtain 1000 kg of Robusta and 200 kg of Arabica beans. My job was to monitor the eAuction in order to find beans with good price. Luckily we managed to bought beans with good price.

Record of strategic decisions:

We showed Miss Haya our record of strategic decisions to know if we are in the right track or not. Hopefully we were in the right way, so I transfer what we write in our not in a word document.

Fifth Day of Tejari

Group meeting:

We set up a group meeting to discuss many topics:
· Finance sheet: we revised the balance sheet.
· Expenses: we calculated our expenses for the coffee beans.
· Selling price: we discussed the price of the low quality blends.
· Promotion: we talked about the kind of promotions that we had to do for our customers and the high quality retails.


Meeting minutes:

· I wrote the meeting decision and planning for the second day of period 1.

E auction:

· As we had to buy the high quality blend to sell it to our customer, we tried to find a blend with good price. During our search I found a 50 kg of high blend for dh2400 to start the bid and for the buy now was for dh2800. I talked to my group about this and they agreed to purchase it because it is a good price.


Record of strategic decisions:

· We created an Excel sheet for our price strategies, and what procedures that we have to do to sell our blend. However, we were not sure that if this method is a correct or not, so we arranged a meeting with Miss Haya on Sunday morning to discuss with her this. Also, we asked her to help us in the finance sheet and specially the ‘income statement’ and the ‘inventory planning’.

Fourth Day of Tejari

Trading period 1

Today we started trading period 1. We asked by our teacher to be at college before 9 am therefore to receive Mr.Jaweed’s email to start the trading. However, the email delayed and received to us at 11:49. The email contained the newsflash about the total Market Demand in coffee stock.

At the beginning our group was confused about the email, we didn’t know what we have to do. We tried to read and understand the requirement. We also asked the other groups if they had understood anything so they could help us. After this we sent Miss Haya email about the issue and she was so cooperative with us; she came to the class and explained to us some of the strategies.

During the biding we had take screen shot of every bid that we participated on it and that we won on it. This was for keeping records about our strategic decision; also we kept the auction receipts.

When we understood well the procedure of the trading, we entered the Auction and started to bid. We managed to purchase 400 kg of Arabica and 500 kg of Robusta. Unfortunately, we didn’t sell anything of the low quality blend because of a problem in the system. We hope for tomorrow we sell our blends and start to do profit and cover most of the expenses.

Action plan

While we were waiting for Mr.Jaweed’s email our group manager suggested that we had to start working on the action plan instead of wasting time waiting.

Third Day of Tejari

Tejari Finance training

Mr. Tridib arranged Tejari Finance training for the finance managers of the groups, as I am the assistance of the manager finance in our group, I attended the session. In this session he explained to us the inventory planning, trading activity, flow of good, income statement and the balance sheet. However, he told us that tomorrow he will continue the training session and he will teach us the cash flow and he will going to answer our questions.

Website plan

Our group did the website plan which it included the Overview, Purpose and Objective form the website. Also, we add the Links Information on the plan and it about describing what each link does.

Group Meeting (16:00 to 17:45)
We arranged a meeting to discuss about the website designing. This was to change the ‘contact us’ link name to ‘find us’. What is more, we altered the contact form with the chat box because the difficulties that our group designer faced. In addition, we had changed the advertisements size to 152*37, because the entire group decided to have one size for all the advertisement.


Meeting minutes

I created a template on word document for our meeting agenda which we have to record our plan and decision. Moreover, I wrote the meeting for today’s agenda.

Second Day of Tejari

Today I gathered with my group to discuss about the website and the whole project in details.

For the website:
The group required me to write about our company.


For the project:
We set a milestone therefore to help us in organizing the work which this will assist us to meet our deadline. I was responsible on doing the milestone, which I did in Microsoft Excel.


After the meeting:
we communicated via emails with other groups about the banner advertisement size which we agreed with them to be 200 pixel *200 Pixel. In addition, our colleague Maryam contacted Khalthm Tamim from section 02 in order to exchange the banner advertising between us and her group. Furthermore, we emailed Mr.Tridib to send us the list of the contact information for students from other colleges therefore to exchange the banner advertising with them as well.

Then we entered the auction website to practice and we had won on three bids.

First Day of Tejari

Today we started the Tejari project and this project will go on for three weeks.

Mr. Tridib arranged meeting for all e business groups. This assembly was about clarifying the ‘Tejari’ project for us. At the first, he talked in general about the wholesaler, high quality retailer and the low quality retailer. For instance, what they do, what they buy/sell and what are the process of it. Then he explained the assessments that related to ‘Tejari’ project. For example, he mentioned the grades and how the group will be assist. In addition, he talked about the blog and the website and what we shall include in each of them. At the end of the assembly, Mr. Tridib offered his help in helping the group in the finance spreadsheet and he advised us if there any thing that we confused about it, we have to go back to ‘Tejari’ website.

After the assembly I and my group members Bushra and Maryam arranged a meeting to discuss the position of each member. Our discussion was the following: Bushra is the group leader and the marketing manger, Maryam is finical manger and me Latifa is the general assistant for the both mangers. Furthermore, during the meeting we distributed the work for this week between us. My tasks are: provide information for the website, being responsible about the ‘meeting minutes’ and create a template for it.

Miss Haya explained to us in her class the process to register at ‘eAuction’, and then she instructed us about the procedure on doing the bid. This was by practicing on Jaweed examples on some items. We also, tried to add item for sell but unfortunately we got an error while we were doing it.
